“I wish to propose a fashion travel line based on traveling as a way of life. An exclusive and cosmopolitan wardrobe for women who are bidding for escape, authenticity and originality. I have always adhered to green luxury, this is why I have chosen to center my brand on the quality of fabrics and savoir-faire. I share with you the spirit of my brand FLORIANE FOSSO and its From Paris To collections with passion and transparency. “
“Fabrics are the soul of clothes. The ready-to-wear collections From Paris to are made out of love for quality fabrics. The collections’ fabrics come from luxury houses’ old collections, we call it luxury upcycling, this process gives a second life to fabrics. We also use natural and organic fabrics such as raffia and recycled materials. As for accessories, I opted for premium leather scraps from non-protected species. From Paris to, it’s two collections a year as well as limited edition capsule collections for slow fashion seasons. We believe this a sustainable way to go back to the real essence of fashion. “
This week, Floriane flew from Paris to Vancouver, to showcase an intimate preview of her two collections to media, buyers and influencers in historic Gastown.
Cindy Yu (TheVancouveriteBlog), our gracious host, first met the determined talent at Paris Fashion Week and a collaboration was soon formed. I personally loved that the showing was in an intimate space overlooking downtown Vancouver – a wonderful personal touch so suitable to the youthful and inquisitive designer.
Floriane spoke to the luxurious nature of her fabrics – both new and repurposed – and how she accessed them, her creative process and encouraged feedback from the small group of invitees on the current perspective on luxury fashion, accessibility and where we felt the industry needed to refocus to be more ecofriendly.
To be a Muse for Floriane Fosso
What followed the discussion was a completely unexpected surprise. Floriane requested, in that gentle but persuasive way she has, that we all model our favourite pieces from the Collections and an impromptu photoshoot was afoot! Here is my best shot. A little sassy with a touch of editorial.
The strapless dress was layered with mesh and upcycled leather in the bodice with a curious shredded trim which added a touch of whimsy and had me craving a delicious coconut treat. I joked with Floriane that no one seen me in anything strapless since high school graduation 1984!
Watch for more on Floriane in the upcoming year, as she will be visiting Vancouver again in January and July. In the meantime, if you are visiting Paris, she is opening at the Palais Royal at 39 rue de Monpensier.
Merci beaucoup Floriane and Cindy for the invitation, the bubbly and pulling me out of my comfort zone and into a Parisian state of mind, if only for a couple of hours.
